With 250GB disk on my iMac I rarely complain about the disk space. However I know some poor Mac users running out of space with a measly 80GB on their laptops.
Seriously though, it is always great to have more disk space available. In fact, you should have at least 10% of your hard disk empty to ensure good system performance. Empty space is required for automatic de-fragmentation (“Hot-File-Adaptive-Clustering”) available in Mac OS X since version 10.3:

Ideally, you would go through your hard drive and delete the file you do not need. Utilities like OmniDiskSweeper can help you quickly identify where the space is wasted.
Monolingual has a different approach â it will find and delete the unused localization files from the installed applications. Most of the Mac OS X applications and libraries support multiple languages and, if you always use only one of them, you can easily save a lot of space by trashing the rest:
With Monolingual you can quickly reclaim 2-3 GB of disk space. Be careful when you select what languages to delete as Monolingual does not move the files into Trash but deletes them right away.
Also, keep in mind that this is a one time gain and next time you are out of the disk space again, you will have to clean your disk manually.
Monolingual is a free utility supported by donations.
