Liquifile

Liquifile is a unique file management tool for Mac OS X.

I tried it a few months ago and didn’t quite grasp the concept. David and I met Liquifile’s creator Carsten Waldeck at MacWorld Expo and he re-introduced us to this great program.

Liquifile-Screen-Explained

My favourite Liquifile features:

  1. Ability to immediately see file age and size using grey file dots (Liquifile can even be used as an alternative to Omni Disk Sweeper)
  2. Ability to quickly select files in a specific time range using the timeline at the bottom.
  3. Ability to browse the file without the folder hierarchy.
  4. Super-fast search by filename in a current folder or folder hierarchy.

Some things can (and I am sure will be) improved:

  1. Using “Return” to rename the file instead of opening it.
  2. Better support for context menu items available in Finder (e.g. “Create Archive of …”, “Show Package Contents”, etc)
  3. Favorite locations
  4. File Preview
  5. Tabs

Liquifile is currently priced at just $9.90 USD and it is a steal at this price considering that a single license allows you to use Liquifile on all your computers.
The price will go up to $12.90 in February.
