1Passwd 2.3.7 Released
Over the weekend Roustem and I released a new version of 1Passwd, namely v2.3.7. For a “minor point release” this is a surprisingly packed-full release!
You can download and install 1Passwd here, or, if you already have 1Passwd installed, you can upgrade by selecting the Check For Updates… menu item in the 1Passwd application:
Now, without further ado, here’s the rundown on the new stuff:
Password Generation Customization
When generating passwords you can now customize the length and character sets to use.
To customize the generated password, hold the option key when selecting the Generate Password menu item.
More Informative Unlock Screen From Browsers
Often when the 1Passwd Keychain locks you find out from within the browser. In version 2.3.0 we added an improved unlock screen to the main 1Passwd application. In this release, we improved the browser extensions to match:
Now it will be obvious why 1Passwd wants to access your keychain, and with the additional help messages users will know what is happening and how to proceed.
Store Master Password in Default Login Keychain
Those with very good eyes will have noticed the additional checkbox in the above screen shot. Here it is again:
You can now tell 1Passwd to store your master password into the default login keychain so you’ll never need to manually unlock 1Passwd again!
If you use this feature, you need to be sure to defend the login keychain with sufficient protection, since if anyone breaks the login keychain, they will gain access to your 1Passwd keychain too.
Improved Firefox Import Results Screen
When importing Firefox passwords, you can now see a detailed log of which items were imported, which ones were skipped, and why.
Popup Alert When FREE Version Limit is Met
In previous versions of 1Passwd, new users who hit the 12 form limit on the FREE version were not notified why their forms were not being saved. We improved this by adding a new popup window:
