Trying new things when you have a lot of users is always a hard thing. People tend to get used to how things are and get comfortable with the way it is. Apple has a huge user base so you can imagine the completely revamped Dock in Leopard is causing some confusion and aggravation, especially the new way Folders are shown.
Overall the Dock looks very nice I think:

I love the space theme and the reflection of icons is pretty slick. On Tiger I started hiding the Dock, but Leopard has me wanting to change that decision.
The biggest gripe I have seen discussed about the Dock is the handling of Folders on the Dock. Folders no longer have their own icon on the Dock, but rather have a dynamic icon that reflects its contents. This is really slick for the Downloads Folder where it is great to see what you downloaded last.
The problem that occurs is many people put the Applications folder on the Dock, so you end up seeing another "application icon" on your Dock, like this:

Since 1Password starts with a 1, it is shown in the foreground of the Applications folder. One of the issues with this is 1Password is already on the Dock, so it is kind of odd to have it shown "twice".
Even Leo Laporte made fun of this in MacBreak Weekly 64: Hello Leopard! when he mentioned that he would be stuck looking at 1Password for the rest of his life :)
While I personally like the new look, many people find it confusing. In fact, we even had several 1Password "bug reports" where users think 1Password is acting strange and has "superimposed itself" on top of the Applications folder.
For people who want their old Applications Folder back, you can try this hint as well as this one.
