As much as I love Camino, it has one huge disadvantage shared by all other Firefox-based browsers (Firefox and Flock): I use DEVONThink to collect and organize interesting snippets of information. DEVONThink adds a few entries to the OS X Services menu:
- Append Plain Note
- Append Rich Note
- Lookup
- Summarize
- Take Plain Note
- Take Rich Note
The “Take Rich Note” is one of the most useful – it creates a new item in the DEVONThink database using formatting and images in the currently selected text. It also has a convenient keyboard shortcut. Unfortunately, as you can see on this picture, “Append Rich Note” and “Take Rich Note” are always disabled in Firefox-based browsers.
This brings me back to the WebKit camp and there is a lot of choice:
- Safari
http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/safari/ - WebKit
http://webkit.opendarwin.org/ - Shiira
http://hmdt-web.net/shiira/en - OmniWeb
http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omniweb/download/beta/
I downloaded OmniWeb 5.5 today and as every new toy it looks promising. It feels very fast. Now the only thing missing in OmniWeb 5.5 is the 1Passwd extension :)
