We recently announced that 1Password 2.5 added Leopard support. In 1Password 2.5 we tested with the latest developer build given to us by Apple, but the final retail version of Leopard changed things and many browsers stopped working.
We just released 1Password 2.5.1 which should now have full Leopard support. It has worked for many people so far, but sadly there are a few users still experiencing problem. We are still looking into perfecting things, but if you are on Leopard and want to give it a go, you can upgrade to version 2.5.1 by using the Check For Updates feature of 1Password, as shown here:
If you prefer, you can manually download version 2.5.1 from here Please note that when upgrading manually, you must quit 1Password and all open browsers before replacing the old version. The automatic update will do all this for you automatically.
Potential Problems in Safari and WebKit based Browsers
Once upgraded to 2.5.1, you must make sure that the 1Password Input Manager is only installed in the System folder, and not your local one. To do this, open Finder and verify that this folder is not present:
/Users/
If it is there, drag it to the trash and try to empty your trash. If the trash cannot be emptied, restart your Mac and empty the trash afterwards.
You should now be able to start Safari and see 1Password in the toolbar.
Please let us know how it turns out by posting to this thread in the forum.
Potential Firefox Problems
Firefox is Crashing!
If Firefox crashes it is likely that the Firefox extension is not installed correctly. Try to reinstall the Firefox browser extension by opening 1Password > Preferences > Browsers, and unchecking the Firefox Installed check box as shown here:
Then enable the checkbox to install it again.
Firefox Hangs on Login Windows
In the latest Leopard version 1Password and Firefox have issues on HTTP Authentication windows. This did not happen in the developer versions of Leopard, it only appeared in the final retail version of Leopard.
I'm not sure what the problem is yet, and will need sometime to fix it.
In the meantime, you can disable the 1Password support for these windows by opening 1Password > Preferences > General, and enabling the "Use Browser's HTTP Authentication windows" checkbox, as shown here:
This will alleviate the problem for now and then you can reenable this 1Password feature once we fix it in the next release.
