1Password's Leopard support has blossomed wonderfully in the last 4 days. As I mentioned last time, we had Leopard support in the latest developer build given to us by Apple, but the final retail version of Leopard changed things and many browsers stopped working.
After some long nights and some heroics from the entire team, we now have 1Password working on the retail version of Leopard! Best of all, 1Password is now working in every single browser we supported on Tiger.
We are very proud that things are working now, but we owe our users a huge round of applause as they helped us track down issues, report bugs, helped other users in the forum, and most of all had patience and encouraged us as we worked through these issues.
We received many uplifting messages, including this one:
Just wanted to say thanks for all your efforts re: Leopard - I'm downloading the nth update in as many days now. No doubt you're getting lots of stick about bugs etc., but 1Password was the first app I re-installed on the new OS, and despite the teething problems it's been essential.
Keep up the work!
Without encouragement like this, I don't think we would have been able to get Leopard working this fast, not to mention be able to keep up with all the email.
We still have some issues to work out, but overall 1Password on Leopard is looking very good. Below are the upgrade instructions, as well as the known issues that you might run into.
Upgrading 1Password
You can upgrade to latest version by using the Check For Updates feature of 1Password, as shown here:
If you prefer, you can manually download the latest version from here. Please note that when upgrading manually, you must quit 1Password and all open browsers before replacing the old version. The automatic update will do all this for you automatically.
Known Issues
Migrating Data From 2.4 to 2.5
If you did not migrate from 1Password 2.4 to 2.5 before upgrading to Leopard, then you need to copy the 1Passwd.keychain file from your Tiger backup to your new Leopard install. This file can be located here:
/Users/your-user-id/Library/Keychains/1Passwd.keychain
When 1Password 2.5 starts for the first time it will find this keychain and migrate it to the new 1Password keychain that will be used for now on. The 1Passwd keychain will be left unmodified.
You can see this document for understanding on the Migration Assistant, and how to fix any issues that might arrive: Migrating From 1Password 2.4 to 2.5.
Firefox Crashing
This is technically not related to Leopard, but rather the upgrade to 2.5. Many people upgraded to version 2.5 because they just upgraded to Leopard, so they experience a crash in Firefox soon after upgrading to Leopard.
If you are experiencing crashes in Firefox, see this post for an easy fix: Firefox (or Flock/Navigator) Crash after upgrading to 2.5
Restoring Some Web Forms is Safari Fails
We have had some reports of restoring migrated Web Forms failing in Safari. What is really odd about this problem is the forms can be restored properly in Firefox and other browsers. When this problem occurs, an entry like this is logged into the 1Password Safari log:
Failed to decrypt object (-67061): Login to Paypal/7B344EFA2AC24DEDA123F69D3321BAB8
This log can be found here:
/Users/
We are still tracking this problem down, it seems everything about the keychain item is correct, and since it works in Firefox and other browsers it seems like it may be a Safari bug. As far as we can tell, the error code -67061 is a new error message added to the keychain in Leopard.
We are working with Apple to track down this issue. In the meantime, you can copy and paste the data from 1Password, and then save a new Web Form. A new form saved from Safari will restore properly.
Duplicate Keychain Entries in .Mac
Again, this is not specifically a Leopard issue, but many people upgraded to 1Password 2.5 once their Mac was upgraded to Leopard. If you are using .Mac and you receive duplicate entries in your keychain, see this post: Fixing Duplicated Keychain Data.
AllBookarks Application
The AllBookmarks application is currently using the old 1Passwd.keychain, and so it is not compatible with 1Password version 2.5.
We will have a new release that uses the new keychain soon.
1Password Icon Not Appearing
If the 1Password Icon is not appearing in Safari, Camino, WebKit, DEVONagent, or OmniWeb, try reinstalling the browser extensions, as shown in the Firefox step above. If that does not work, it might be a permissions issue. Normally the 1Password installer will setup everything for you properly, but if the icon is missing you should manually verify InputManager folder's permissions.
