That's right: 1Password 3, our most significant upgrade ever, is finished and ready for the masses. We plugged away at 1Password 3 for over a year and tested extensively with a wonderful beta team. We count over 100 new features, enhancements, tweaks, and elbow-rubs of polish since 1Password 2, but we're sticking with advertising "50" since we figure it's a number people might actually believe. But you can stop taking our word for it and try out the new version for yourself on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Biggest. Upgrade. Ever
Among 1Password 3's killer new features (yes: killer. No running with them, they're sharp) is 1PasswordAnywhere, one of the most-requested to-dos from our active user base. 1PasswordAnywhere allows you to view your 1Password data on-the-go from any other computer—Windows, Mac, Linux, you name it—with a modern browser like Safari or Firefox. Look up a critical password while on Windows at work, or copy that FTP password while on Linux in the school labs. Bam.
There is also a dedicated new Vault category for managing your Software Licenses, topped off with gorgeous application icons and all sorts of custom fields for storing every detail.
Then there's file attachments (which, by the way, get encrypted with all your other information), redesigned iPhone sync with more power and control, editing 1Password items from your browser, tags for every item type, and heaping handfuls of other new features.
The Money Stuff: Licenses, upgrades, and a sale
For folks who already own 1Password, I have good news and good news. The good news is that we have what is probably the most lenient free upgrade window you have ever seen. If you purchased 1Password 2 on or after March 1, 2009 (yes: over eight months ago), you get a free upgrade to 1Password 3. For bonus points: your current license should "just work" in the new version.
The other good news is that if you bought a license for any previous version of 1Password before March 1—even if you got it for mere pennies through a bundle deal like MacHeist—you can take advantage of our Early Bird Discount to upgrade to 1Password 3. During this sale, single user license upgrades are just $19.95, while Family 5-Pack licenses are a mere $29.95. But hurry—the Early Bird Discount ends on Monday, November 30.
For new users who just hopped on the 1Password train, welcome! Please make yourselves comfortable and let us know if we can help. Feel free to try a fully-functioning 1Password 3 demo for 30 days. When you decide that 1Password is the password and identity manager for you, new single licenses are $39.95, and Family 5-Packs are $69.95. Rest assured, we like to take care of our customers, and we answer most requests within 24 hours. We even offer a 30-day money back guarantee if you change your mind, so what have you got to lose? Nothing, that's what.
This new version was a wonderful labor of love over the past year with our ultimate goal always set in the middle of our sights: to make your life both more secure and convenient. We hope you like 1Password 3 as much as we do, because we have a lot more in store.
